At CU Pharmacy, our expertise is unique. The Clinical Neurology Research Fellowship is the only fellowship in the United States that specifically focuses on research and clinical practice in the field of neurology.
As part of our program, the fellow is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team in the Neurology Department at the University of Colorado Hospital’s Outpatient Clinics. The clinics offer, but are not limited to, experience in the following areas: epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, headache, trigeminal neuralgia, movement disorders, restless legs syndrome and psychiatry.
The fellow is also highly involved in research projects related to neurology. This includes planning, designing and implementing studies. Once the study is approved, the fellow will be responsible for efficiently running it. The fellow also will take the lead in data analysis and manuscript writing.
Additionally, our fellows become proficient in protocol design, good clinical practice, laboratory practices and institutional review board (IBR) certification.
The fellow will assist with precepting pharmacy students and residents. Additionally, fellows have the opportunity to disseminate knowledge in the didactic setting and skills-based classrooms. Included in this fellowship opportunity will be clinical patient care on the inpatient neurology floors at The University of Colorado Hospital, and the Anschutz Outpatient Clinic (epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and movement disorders). The goal of this fellowship is to train the fellow to become an independent practitioner in the clinic, classroom, and researcher.
Each fellowship is two years in length, but this can be tailored by the needs of the program and the fellow. The application cycle will begin in January of the year that the current fellow is expected to complete the fellowship.
