Funds are intended to be used to recognize the growing importance of developing more pharmacist clinical scientists. Fund shall be used to provide awards to selected students to assist them in gaining the knowledge and the clinical and laboratory skills needed to conduct clinical translational research. Emphasis will be placed on students' academic records and the strength of their applications including their potential for participating initially in faculty-mentored clinical translational research and on their potential for eventually becoming primary investigators in this field. Applicants will be expected to have conferred with faculty members, selected a mentor and with the mentor agreed upon a plan for a research project that will be described briefly in the students' application.

This scholarships is awarded to third-year (P3) students with a strong interest in clinical pharmacy and strong communication skills who plan to complete a post-PharmD residency. Applicant's must provide written recommendations from the school's clinical pharmacy faculty members and have attained a high GPA preferably in the range of 3.5 to 4.0. Evidence of involvement in community service or professional organizations is also a consideration.

This scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates a commitment to practice in a rural area of Colorado or Wyoming. This scholarship is eligible for renewal for students in good academic and professional standing.
