The Center for Drug Discovery is the only facility of its kind in the central U.S. focused solely on reducing the time and cost of screening new drugs and therapies. The Center is powered by a custom high throughput automated robotic system which can cut screening time in half and a diverse drug library of 125,000 compounds as well as biologic and cell-based therapies.
One of the major strengths of the CU Anschutz Medical Campus is the overall vision of melding basic and clinical sciences to bring creative therapeutic approaches to patients." - David Ross, PhD, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies CU Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences
When great minds and resources merge, the possibilities are limitless.
The Center for Drug Discovery harnesses innovation at CU Anschutz and throughout Colorado through centralized expertise and shared resources to facilitate drug discovery. The Center is anchored by a robotic and fully integrated drug discovery and imaging platform which will markedly increase the speed of screening for novel therapeutic molecules.
Amazing things happen when researchers come together.
Researchers from Anschutz Medical Campus, other academic institutions, hospitals, and industry come together to conduct drug discovery research and jointly develop new programs and funding opportunities to facilitate drug discovery and development, and translational research.
When discoveries occur, everyone wins.
The goal of the Center is to facilitate drug discovery and lead drug development. In the process, the Center partners with investigators and CU Innovations to expand CU intellectual property, ultimately increasing the pipeline of effective lead therapies and opportunities for clinical translation, licensing agreements, and the formation of startup companies.
Where knowledge and inspiration unite.
The Center serves as a space for cutting-edge research, learning, and collaboration. In addition to contributing to the Campus’ graduate drug discovery curricula, it also offers professional-level educational opportunities such as seminars and workshops.
Join the Center for Drug Discovery to collaborate with other researchers to facilitate drug discovery at different stages of the development pipeline, including assay development and validation, high-throughput screening (HTS) and image-based high-content screening (HCS) discovery, hit-to-lead validation and optimization, and in vitro and in vivo pharmacology and toxicology. All CU faculty and faculty at participating Colorado academic institutions interested in drug discovery are eligible for Full Membership. Full Members will benefit from discounted rates to utilize the Drug Discovery and Development Shared Resource (D3SR). In addition, individuals from industry or other institutions outside of Colorado may participate as Associate Members.
