Dr. Anderson is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Adult Internal Medicine at the Gipson Eastside Family Health Center, one of the Denver Health Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC). Her clinic site is the oldest community health clinic west of the Mississippi! At her clinic site, Dr. Anderson provides pharmacotherapy consultations and patient care visits for resistant hypertension, diabetes, anticoagulation and medication management. She is highly involved in population health initiatives, such as statin use in persons with diabetes (SUPD) and hypertension control. Her clinic serves as a rotation site for P3 students, P4 students, PGY1 and PGY2 residents. Dr. Anderson’s areas of interest include type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, clinical service development and implementation, and transitions of care.
Dr. Anderson participates in research related to pharmacotherapy (cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, diabetes), clinical service development and implementation, and transitions of care. She has published research articles, review articles, editorials, and continuing education materials. Dr. Anderson enjoys precepting PharmD student honors projects and residency research projects.
Dr. Anderson is currently appointed to the ASHP Council on Therapeutics (COT) and ASHP Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP) Education Steering Committee. She is a past chair of the ACCP Adult Medicine PRN and currently serves on an ACCP Clinical Practice Committee. Dr. Anderson just completed a 2-year term as co-chair of the University of Colorado Faculty Council Women’s Committee. At the school, Dr. Anderson serves as the chair-elect of the Scholastic Advancement and Appeals Committee (SAAC) and as co-advisor to the Sigma Chapter of Phi Delta Chi. She is an alumni member of the school's Alumni Association Board. At Denver Health, Dr. Anderson is the Diabetes Champion for the Eastside Clinic and serves as a member of the Diabetes Collaborative, the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Pharmacy Team, and the Anticoagulation Working Group. At the state level, Dr. Anderson has served as a member of the Colorado Pharmacists Society Board of Directors. Dr. Anderson volunteers as a faculty preceptor at the student-run free clinic in Aurora (DAWN Clinic).
