Shaun Ellen Gleason is an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and director of the Distance Degrees and Programs (DDP) office at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Gleason received her PharmD degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA in 1990. She also received a Master of Global Studies degree from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies (2005). Dr. Gleason completed an ASHP-accredited residency in clinical pharmacy at the Denver VA Medical Center (1990-91), and a specialty residency in pharmacokinetics and infectious diseases at Denver’s National Jewish Medical and Research Center (1991-92). She remained at National Jewish as an assistant faculty member (1992-98; 1999-02), specializing in the pharmacotherapy of mycobacterial diseases. Dr. Gleason joined Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in 2002, serving in roles of increasing responsibility for the medical affairs departments of Ortho Biotech and Tibotec Therapeutics, eventually becoming the associate director of science and research liaisons for Tibotec Therapeutics (2007-09).
Dr. Gleason’s teaching focuses primarily on mycobacterial diseases, and instructional methods in the school’s traditional and distance-based programs. As director of the school’s DDP office, she is responsible for exploring and implementing new educational technology methods, and developing the proposed International Trained PharmD (ITPD) Program. Dr. Gleason’s additional areas of professional interest include management and leadership, global studies and infectious diseases. In her spare time, Dr. Gleason rides road bike, snow skis and serves as a volunteer sit-ski instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled.
